I often think this would make a good alarm call in the morning….a reminder to not waste our day by being in tomorrow or yesterday!
Present moment awareness brings us to the beauty in the Joy of Living – take away the desires , the needs, the regret, and the expectation, and what you may find is an appreciation of the newness of now; every moment bringing the opportunity to start afresh. As a human being on planet Earth we are all susceptible to a whole myriad of undesirable emotions and thoughts…but if we can learn to watch them float by like clouds across the sky – trying our best to know them, observe them, and then let them float past – in the next moment we have a new moment, which we can choose to do what we like with….or at least HOW we view it.
Compassion for self is key – unless you are enlightened, anger will come at times, sadness falls over you, jealousy may sting, but we can’t berate ourselves for experiencing feelings common to all human beings. You can guarantee the person to your left, and your right, feels the same at times, but the wise man knows that this ‘now’ is fleeting, and another ‘now’ is …..now!
For every moment that is born, that moment also dies and like the rise and fall of the sun – a new day is born – a perfect day…to view however you please.
“Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
